Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor PC Crashes, Low FPS, Launch Issues and other Fixes

A brand new RPG, Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor has been launched. The PC version contains many issues such as can’t launch, start crash, low fps, DirectX11 hardware etc. Here are some major problems addressed with fixes.

Shadow of Mordor System Requirements

  • Operating Systems: Windows 7/Windows 64 with 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz
  • RAM: 3 GB
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5850
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive: 25 GB available space
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection

You can find the config file from Documents\WB Games\Shadow of Mordor.

Shadow of Mordor – Installed Video Device Does Not Support DirectX 11 Features Error

First of all, meet the game’s requirements to your hardware. You must installed Windows 7/8 64-Bit with DirectX 11 update and a DirectX 11 Graphic Card.

Shadow of Mordor – How to Enable SLI (For NVidia Users)

If you are using NVidia SLI and only one GPU working with the game, you should go to NVidia Inspector, select Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor, and then go to Add Application to current profile that browse and select Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor.exe. Now select Fear 3 on SLI bits Compatibility Bits (Dx1x) and apply. That’s it.

Make sure you have disabled V-Sync and SSAA from graphics option menu.

Shadow of Mordor – Launch Issues on Steam or Startup Crash

If you are trying to play the game from Steam, preparing to launch message appear and then nothing happen. First of all, make sure you have Windows 7/8 with 64-bit interface installed on your machine and secondly ensure that you must have DirectX11 hardware to run this game, not software, Dx11 GPU. Try to restart the system and Steam as well, if problem persists then you must verify the Integrity Game Cache Files from Steam. It is also recommends that install all Redistributables. We have noticed that the most of users still having this issue, we are updating that delete the Shadow of Mordor folder from Documents/WB Games. Hope it will work.

Another possible fix to solve this matter, go to Documents\WB Games\ Shadow of Mordor, here create three notepad files named, game.ini, render.cfg and setting.cfg, now paste the following material in those files and then try, hope it works.

Shadow of Mordor – Experiencing Low FPS on High-End Hardware

If you are having low FPS or game running slow, you must upgrade NVidia/AMD Graphic Cards Drivers. The latest drivers are:

If you have a dual-GPU notebook/laptop, the game using Intel HD Graphic instead of NVidia graphics, to fix this issue, go to NVidia Control Panel, make a profile for Shadow of Mordor, them set the NVidia GPU (such as 880m) as Preferred Graphics Processor, Done!

To skip intro videos in Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor, go to game folder, Game\Interface\Videos\. Now delete or rename the legal folder and also delete or rename intro.vib, nvidia_splash.vib and WBPlay.vib.

If you are facing lightning bug or some other graphic glitches, try to use High Textures instead of Ultra and Lightning.
